The Miami Giving Tree is a non-profit organization founded by current high school student, Max Hornstein. Based in South Florida, his goals are to spread awareness and advocacy for children and young adults like himself that suffer from Crohn's and other IBD related diseases. This is in hopes to reach the overall goal of helping people afflicted with such illnesses to live life to their fullest potential.
Max was born and raised in Miami and is currently a senior in the International Baccalaureate program at Miami Beach Senior High. At the age of 13 he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease causing him to spend periods of time in the hospital. Since then however, under the care of his doctors and support from friends and family he has been able to live a healthy life. He is looking forward to pursing a degree in finance and mathematics at college. At fifteen, Max started his own business, String Theory, and interned at a global hedge fund in New York City. His goal is to give back to the community. Max has since helped in the co-founding of the non-profit organization, "FinancED Inc.", to nurture the youth of South Florida by teaching financial literacy to prepare them for their future. Additionally, Max has become very involved with The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, as an advocate, leader, and fundraiser inspiring others to do the same.
